Record the meeting. Read it afterwards.

NotAL records on your phone — locked screen, other apps, two hours straight — and afterwards gives you the full transcript and a short set of notes, instead of an audio file nobody has time to listen back to.

00:41“So can we ship before the 14th?”
00:48“Only if the review notes go in tomorrow.”

DecisionShip by the 14th, review notes filed tomorrow.
  • Keeps recording when you stop looking

Lock the phone, take a call, switch apps. A two‑hour meeting needs no attention while it runs.

  • Transcript, then notes

Every recording comes back written up: the full transcript, plus a summary, the key points and the decisions.

  • Recording never waits for signal

Capture is local and works offline. Audio uploads on its own once there is Wi‑Fi or cellular.

  • Nothing to buy, nothing tracking you

No subscription, no in‑app purchases, no ads, no analytics SDKs.

Support

hi@fxdemir.com

Bugs, questions, feature requests, account deletion, anything. Expect a reply within a few days. A plain description of what you did and what happened is more useful than a formal bug report.

If a recording did not upload, or a transcript never arrived: open Settings → Recording log in the app and send that along. It is what makes the problem findable instead of guessable.

Deleting your account is in the app, under Settings → Danger zone. Email works too if you cannot get in.

What NotAL does with your recordings.

NotAL is made by Furkan Demir, an independent developer. This policy covers the NotAL iPhone app and the service behind it. It is short because the app collects little.

What is collected

  • Your account. An email address and password, so recordings can be tied to you. A display name if you give one.
  • Your recordings. The audio you record. It is saved on your device, and uploaded to our servers when you are signed in.
  • Transcripts and notes produced from that audio.
  • Ordinary server logs — timestamps, error messages and request details needed to keep uploads and transcription working.

What is not collected

No analytics or tracking SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no ads, no location, no contacts, no calendar, no push tokens. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with data brokers or advertisers. There is no third‑party tracking code in the app at all.

Where a recording goes

Audio is captured on your device and stays there for playback. When you are signed in it is also uploaded over an encrypted connection to our storage, transcribed, and turned into notes. If you are signed out, nothing leaves the phone.

How long the audio is kept

Not long. Once a recording has a transcript and a set of notes, the audio file is deleted from our servers automatically — nothing in the service reads it after that point. The copy on your phone stays until you delete the recording. Transcripts and notes are kept in your account until you delete them or delete your account.

Who else processes your data

  • Supabase — accounts, database and audio storage.
  • Microsoft Azure OpenAI — transcription and the meeting notes. This is the only AI provider, and your data is not used to train models.
  • Our own backend server, which authorises uploads and runs the transcription jobs.

Each one processes your data only to provide that part of the service.

Who can read your recordings

You can. Access is enforced per‑row in the database, so one account cannot read another’s recordings, transcripts or notes. Your sign‑in credentials are kept in the iPhone’s secure keychain. We do not read your content except in the narrow case where you send us a diagnostic log, or ask us to look at a specific recording.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Microphone — required, because the app records audio. Nothing is recorded until you tap record.
  • Notifications — optional. They only tell you that a recording was interrupted or a transcript is ready. These are local notifications; the app registers no push token and sends no remote push. Recording, uploads, transcripts and notes all work with them switched off.

Deleting everything

Settings → Danger zone → Delete account permanently removes your account, your recordings, transcripts and notes, from the device and from our servers. It cannot be undone. Individual recordings can be deleted one at a time from the library. You can also ask us to do it by email.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to hi@fxdemir.com and it will be handled within 30 days.

Recording other people

NotAL records whatever the microphone hears, and the rules about recording a conversation differ from place to place. Telling the people in the room is on you, and in many countries it is also the law.

Children

NotAL is a general‑audience app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it, and material changes will be announced in the app.
